For Immediate Release

New York, Oct. 5, 2021 — beehiiv, a platform that streamlines the ability to create, customize, scale, and monetize email newsletters, today announced it has raised $2.6 million in seed funding. This announcement comes on the heels of a successful private beta and a waitlist exceeding several hundred qualified leads.

The round was led by Social Leverage, with significant investments from Thirty Five Ventures, Company Ventures, Adventure Fund, Spice Capital, Bullish Studio, Creator Rising, and Creator Collective Capital. Other notable backers include Scott Galloway, NYU Professor & Founder of Section4; Anna Palmer & Jake Sherman, Co-founders of Punchbowl News; Ben Kaplan & Elliot Tebele, Co-founders of @fuckjerry & WhatDoYouMeme, Paul & Mike Rabil, Co-founders of the PLL; Jason Yanowitz, CEO of Blockworks; Adam Ryan, CEO of Workweek; Brian Morrissey, former Editor in Chief at Digiday; Ari Lewis, Co-founder of Payload Space, and @litquidity.

With the new capital, beehiiv will triple the size of its team with numerous hires across engineering, community, growth, and marketing. It will also continue to invest in growth and product development—including robust data analytics, a native referral program tool, etc.

The team is led by CEO Tyler Denk, who was the second employee at Morning Brew, and more recently a Product Lead at Google. Other Co-founders include Benjamin Hargett and Jake Hurd, both previously software engineers at Morning Brew, and N2 publishing before that.

“The newsletter space is still so early—with new content creators, tools, and business models continuing to emerge,” said Howard Lindzon of Social Leverage.

“The best companies unlock and create new markets. We’re now seeing the democratization of creator tools, and beehiiv is a seamless on-ramp for creators to go direct-to-audience and generate meaningful revenue,” said Denk. “The beautiful thing about beehiiv is that we can provide all of our tools to both ends of the market, the creators with millions of followers and creators with niche audiences, in a remarkably efficient way.”
